Students will explain how to categorize information scientifically. Students began the work session today with a discussion that address "why are scientific notebooks significant?" Students were allowed to view several examples of note book pages from great inventor and scientist. These were used to further foster the dialogue of how; a good notebook aids the scientist in the scientific method.
Students also set up their own Interactive Notebook (IAN). This notebook will be used daily to ensure that each student has a resource that includes key vocabulary, labs and feedback on academic performance.
The IAN is a 1-Subject, 100 page college ruled notebook that to date has approximately 10 pages. The IAN is critical to the students success in Biology this semester. Students will get IAN quizzes and checks as part of the grading process.
The IAN contains the course syllabus and teacher contact information as well as a break down of the percentages involved in grading for the semester.
Closing: Students organized the balance of their documents and are expected to make sure that everything is updated.
Homework: The Kleenex Box Assignment and The Syllabus (signed)
